Travel Bed Bug Free
As everything begins to reopen many are excited to take a vacation after being stuck inside due to the shelter in place order. Here are some helpful tips to prevent bed bugs from hitching a ride back to your house.
-
If possible, use hard-side luggage instead of soft-side to reduce accessibility.
-
Use luggage liners or pack with vacuum bags.
-
Inspect your room BEFORE you bring your luggage in. Check the mattress including the seams for bugs or blood stains. It's best if this is done using a flashlight.
-
Check the headboard and footboard as well for signs of bed bugs or blood stains and underneath the bed.
-
If you have any furniture in your room check the cushions, underneath the cushions, the seams and every crevice.
-
Use the luggage rack in the room rather than sitting your luggage on the floor.
-
Wash all of your clothes and vacuum or steam your luggage once you get back home.
-
You can always check with bedbugregistry.com to see if a hotel you will be staying at has had any recent reports of bed bugs. Keep in mind, just because they are listed doesn’t mean the issue hasn’t been resolved.
While taking precautions is great there is no 100% way to guarantee you won’t bring back bed bugs. If you do, please do not hesitate to call an exterminator to prevent infestation. Although the preparation will be a lengthy process you can contact Simply A Loving Touch Services and we will do the work while you rest.
